About us

"SRI VIDYA MANDIR" School came into existence at the residential colony(Mohan Nagar) of Steel Plant during the year 1982.

"SALEM STEEL PLANT" is the promoter of the school for the children of their employees and provide infra structural facilities, substantial financial assistance and support to run the school effectively.

Sri Vidya Mandir School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi. [Affiliation No: 1930572]

Sri Vidya Mandir Association, a pioneer group successfully managing the schools in Salem was identified as the right choice by the management of Salem Steel Plant to run the school.

The medium of instruction is English with Tamil and Hindi as optional second and third languages. In classes I & II learning activity is made strong by developing writing, reading, communication and simple arithmetic skills. In classes III – VII, structural learning in each subject is emphasized by developing concentration and understanding skills.

To ensure an all round development of the children, various activities are systematically conducted throughout the year.

The school is staffed by qualified & dedicated teachers. Moral instructions forms an integral part of school curriculum. Non-Scholastic activities are encouraged to mould the student’s personality.

House System – There are four houses in the school – Blue, Green, Red, Yellow

In order to develop healthy competition among the students, every student is placed in one of these houses. Each house is headed by one student captain and one student vice captain. A member of the staff – House Mother will be in charge of each house. Points are awarded to the students throughout the year for academics, sports and competitions. At the end of the year the house gaining the highest points is awarded a Rolling Trophy on School Day.

Sports:

There is a full length playfield for major games like Cricket, foot ball, volley ball, throw ball and indoor badminton court. Sri Vidya Mandir School is a member of CWSO and many of our school students are members of this organization.

The school has a well equipped library with more than 3000 books.
